We leave Cape Town to drive along the Atlantic side of the peninsula past Clifton. After lunch, we visit Simon’s Town, founded in 1743, a pretty town with attractive Victorian and Cape Dutch houses and now a major base for the South African navy, before traveling on to Boulders Beach, where Jackass penguins splash in the clear, shallow waters, amongst the gigantic rocks that give the bay its name.
